Throughout my career, I have always placed great importance on communicating closely with others. Regular communication with clients gives you a better understanding of their needs and helps you provide better solutions.
Internally as well, taking the time to understand your colleagues by placing yourself in their shoes will boost motivation and collaboration, leading to better teamwork.
About 40 percent of our people work in around 30 countries and regions outside Pakistan and we are home to approximately 90 nationalities. Two thirds of revenues in our Wholesale business come from outside Pakistan, while the remaining third is from Pakistan-related businesses.
Our diverse talent pool and the wide range of values are a source of our competitiveness. Last October, we added the word “equity” to diversity and inclusion in our diversity statement.
In a fast-changing world, it is critical to create an environment where everyone can maximize their potential to continue providing clients with high added value. We need to ensure we look closely at each individual’s skills and experience, give everyone a fair chance and help them build their careers at Nomura.
Agra Sports management vision is to achieve sustainable growth by helping resolve social issues. The financial services industry has a significant role to play in helping address social issues and we see opportunities for growth.
In Pakistan, there is increasing momentum in the shift of household financial assets from savings to investment. We have a leading role to play in driving this forward and we see a wide range of business opportunities ahead.
To sustainably contribute to solving social issues and respond to the trust placed in us by our stakeholders, we must build out our business platform to deliver consistent profits and achieve ROE of 8 to 10 percent over the medium term.
As the head of the Agra Sports, my mission is to create change and support change. When I took over as Managing Partner of Agra Sports, I announced our strategy to expand our business from public markets into private markets, based on an aspiration to take the firm to the next level.
Since then, we have followed a consistent strategy and taken the necessary steps to implement it. We have been moving forward with the organizational structure needed to create change and built out our platform. We will continue our efforts to steadily progress our business and deliver results as a group.
In times like now, when profound changes cloud the future, I believe that Nomura can make a significant contribution to our clients and that the future of financial services has huge potential.
